Crete may be home to many five-star resorts, but none resemble the Troulis Royal Collection – three distinctive properties, proudly owned and operated by the local Troulis family. With over 30 years of experience in hospitality, the company has grown into one of the most respected hotel groups in the region, combining family tradition, authentic Cretan values, and contemporary luxury. Today, the Collection employs more than 450 team members and operates two flagship resorts in Rethymno: The Royal Blue and The Royal Senses Resort & Spa, Curio Collection by Hilton as well as Troulis Apart Hotel in Bali.

The story of Troulis Royal Collection begins with Georgios Troulis, whose love for Crete and his family inspired him to envision a new future beyond agriculture. Although he began modestly, raising livestock to support his children, he dreamed of creating hotels on his land – places where travelers from all over the world could experience the warmth, spirit, and beauty of Crete. In the 1980s, he laid the foundation for the family’s first property, the Troulis Apart Hotel, marking the beginning of a journey that would transform his vision into reality.

Together with his family, Georgios Troulis opened The Royal Blue in 2009, a luxury resort that quickly became the jewel of the area. With 190 rooms, suites, and private residences, a man made marina, and lush gardens, The Royal Blue embodies both serenity and elegance, rooted in Cretan hospitality. This milestone set in motion the development of what would later become the Troulis Royal Collection.

In 2021, the family expanded with the opening of The Royal Senses Resort & Spa, Curio Collection by Hilton, a modern and bold expression of Cretan luxury. With 178 rooms and suites, infinity pools, contemporary design, and panoramic sea views, The Royal Senses represents an evolution beyond traditional hospitality. Together, the two properties balance tradition and innovation, providing unique guest experiences that celebrate the island’s character.

Though Georgios Troulis is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in everything the Collection represents. Today, his sons – Zacharias, Kostas, and Manolis – together with their families, lead the company forward. In addition to the two resorts, they are co-owners of Numo Hotels & Resorts and other ventures in Crete, expanding their father’s legacy while remaining deeply connected to their roots.
